🎫 Can we get the ETA on site?

Yes, the ETA can be requested on site. Please note that the consular fees to establish the ETA upon arrival in Sri Lanka are higher than those charged on the internet.

⏱ When to apply for an ETA?

The ETA application must be made at least three days before your arrival. Once the ETA is issued, you have three months (business) or six months (tourism) to enter Sri Lanka. If your arrival is far away, we accept applications but will allow us to send you your ETA when it is available.

🤔 How long can I stay in Sri Lanka with ETA?

The ETA is issued for a tourist stay (180 days maximum) or business stay (30 days maximum).

🛂 What documents will you need to present to immigration in Sri Lanka?

You will need theETA printed in color as well as your passport, which must be valid for six months after your arrival. You may also be asked for your return ticket as well as proof that your resources are sufficient for your stay (bank statement, bank statements, etc.).

⏳ How long is the ETA valid for?

Once the ETA is issued, you have 3 or 6 months to enter Sri Lanka, depending on the reason for travel.

🚸 Does ETA also affect minors?

Yes, minors must also take the ETA. For children under 12 years old accompanied by an adult, the ETA is free of charge.

🧒 Do I need to apply for a Permit to leave the country for my child?

If the minor leaves French territory without a legal guardian, he or she must be in possession of an AST (authorisation to leave the country). This document can be requested online, and must be completed by one of the holders of parental authority. When travelling, this form must be accompanied by a copy of the identity document of the legal guardian.

⏩ Want to extend your ETA?

Some ETA(s) can be extended at the Colombo Immigration Department, for an additional 90 days, up to a maximum of 3 times.

🧐 What is the difference between ETA, e-visa and electronic visa?

The ETA is a travel authorization required for visa-exempt nationalities in Sri Lanka.

There is no difference between an e-Visa and an electronic visa. There is a tendency to confuse the ETA Sri Lanka with a visa.

By applying for an ETA before your departure, you avoid waiting at immigration upon arrival and sometimes additional fees (this is the case for Sri Lanka). Simply print the PDF document in color and present it at the boarding gate or upon arrival.

🏥 Which vaccines are mandatory for Sri Lanka?

The yellow fever vaccine is mandatory for nationals of the following countries: Angola, Argentina, Benin, Bolivia, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Central Africa, Chad, Colombia, Ecuador, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, French Guinea, Gabon, Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mayotte, Niger, Panama, Peru, Rwanda, Sao Tome, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Suriname, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Venezuela, Zaire.

If you become aware of an error before sending your administrative documents, please indicate the correction to be made when sending these documents.

After this time, corrections cannot be applied. Please contact us for more information.

Once the ETA is issued, its data cannot be changed. You will have to file a new application if your information differs significantly.
